Jerry Inman, Iowa KidSight Program Director for the Lions Clubs of Iowa, designed the MTI PhotoScreener Lamp. MTI PhotoScreeners, manufactured by Medical Technology and Innovations Inc., used instant film to capture vision screening images. These devices were used for vision screening when the Iowa KidSight program launched in 2000 and continued to be used until 2012, when advancements in technology led to the transition to the iScreen digital device.
The lamp features a solid wood shaft and uses a 3-way light bulb. They are often purchased to honor Lions Club members who are or were active vision screeners with Iowa KidSight.
