Biography

Chelle (sounds like Shelly) has a rich history of working both in education and non-profit sectors. She is a former Iowa K-12 certified science teacher, having taught at Louisa-Muscatine and College Community School Districts. For the past decade she has worked for the University of Iowa in the roles of Director of K-12 School Engagement for the College of Engineering, Outreach and Recruitment Director for Women in Science and Engineering, and most recently as the Public Relations and Engagement Specialist for the Southeast STEM Region of the Iowa Governor’s STEM Council. Chelle has also been involved with the Iowa Women’s Foundation where she served in the roles of chair of the board of directors, chair of the grants committee, and now as a member of the advisory council. Chelle is a certified yoga teacher and mindfulness coach. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her husband Michael, biking, stained glass, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and most recently completing her Level 1 sommelier training.
