Dr. William Scott
Dr. William Scott, a native of Iowa City, is a distinguished pediatric ophthalmologist with a strong educational background, holding an M.S. in Physiology (1962) and an MD (1964) from the University of Iowa. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the same institution and pursued fellowships in Pediatric Ophthalmology at the Smith Kettlewell Institute and Children’s Hospital National Medical Center. Dr. Scott has made significant contributions to the field, notably founding Iowa KidSight in 2000, a vision screening program for preschool children, for which he received the Iowa Medical Society’s Physician Community Service Award in 2015. Throughout his career, he has trained numerous residents and fellows and has been an advocate for education in pediatric ophthalmology. He retired as an Emeritus Professor in 2002 but has returned to practice multiple times. Dr. Scott’s legacy includes over 250 publications and numerous invited lectures worldwide, reflecting his commitment to advancing clinical and surgical care in his field.
